Zoe is a young EMT, who was born and raised in the area. She joined the Citizens for New Woodcreek after moving back to Woodcreek from Detroit (where she had matriculated at the University of Detroit Mercy) and seeing with fresh eyes the troubles facing her community.
She lives alone apart from her parrot, Ethel, named after the founder of Alpha Kappa Alpha, her sorority. She enjoys bowling and frequently plays in friendly competitions with her friends in the emergency services, including her gentleman caller Brad Dourif. When not working or bowling, she’s often found geeking out on the Internet under the name ‘QueenPin’.
When Zoe first encountered the supernatural in the form of the vampire Michael she was initially skeptical, but empathy for Michael’s victim led her to follow the clues to his hideout. Once she got there she was easily beaten almost to unconsciousness as Michael fled. Zoe is highly competetive; being embarressed in front of the rest of the CfNW drove her to get tougher. When she later allowed people to get hurt to stop the demon Marchosias gaining power she rationalised her actions with her belief that demon deals are utterly intolerable, but this took a toll on her mental wellbeing. She now seems a little off to humans who aren’t hunters, and finds it harder to stop when she starts fighting. She’s determined to get her hands on Michael again, and when she does she isn’t likely to stop until one of them is dead.
Zoe was initially drawn to Ben as a fellow geek, but got jealous when he left for his six-month tour with Network Zero. When he murdered the programmer she lost all faith in him; she now considers him as bad as the weird things they’ve fought over the months. The ordeal also made her reconsider her stance towards Murad, as she feels he took Ben’s side when his assistance could have helped her save the programmer’s life. This doubt was made stronger when Murad attempted to save the life of a man who had been feeding people to a demon. Zoe considers Jesus to be the leader of the group due to his cool head and social abilities (and because he’s the only other member she feels she can trust anymore).
